HCO Fishing Report and Update February 2025

Hey guys! We hope everyone had a great time and enjoyed their families and some downtime during the holiday season. For 2025 we wanted to start this monthly newsletter to keep our clients up to date on events, opening dates for booking, hosted destination trips and all other things Historic Coast related.

During the early parts of 2025, water clarity is improved and air temps will be cold. Redfish will be in large schools in very shallow water in our back country creeks including some of the flats close to the ICW. This is a great opportunity for our sight fishing clients who wish to test their skills during a time of the year when accurate casting and a stealthy approach is key! We primarily use light tackle spin rods or fly rods, live bait is never out of the question for those less experienced anglers looking to get into sight fishing.

Heading into spring and summer, we are hoping for a good bite with plenty of bait along the beaches. This will give us th eopportunity to provide excellent sight fishing for cobia on the rays as well as tarpon and kingfish. If you are interested in these type of trips please get with us so we can keep you updated as the season evolves to lock in some dates throughout 2025.

A couple of the guys here at Historic Coast have started a podcast called “Historic Coast Hangouts” and it is available on Apple podcast and Spotify. The podcast is meant to be entertaining, laid back talks with friends and people they meet along the way that they find interesting. It is meant to be taken LIGHTLY and thought of as dock talk or friends catching up around a campfire. Some topics include fishing, hunting, music, art and photography just to name a few.

Thanks for reading and your continued support and as always… #FishHistoricCoast
