HCO St. Augustine Inshore Fishing Charters

Spend Some Time in our Backwaters

The historic coast offers some of the best sight fishing opportunities in the state of Florida. St. Augustine offers vast marshes filled with spartina grass flats and backcountry creeks. We have two scenarios for this style of fishing here in Northeast Florida.

We explore the vast marsh along the intercoastal waterway where we target areas such as jetties, creek mouths, oyster bars, docks, and other structure with artificial lures, live bait, and flies.

Summer-Fall: The Flood Tides

Seasonal floodtides bring higher than normal water levels that allow us to target redfish in the flooded spartina grass flats where the redfish tail and feed upon crabs and grasshoppers.

Winter to Spring: The Low Tides

In the cooler months, we pole the shallow flats of the intercoastal and backcountry creeks for large schools of redfish in shin deep water. These fish are completely exposed, crawling the banks feeding on shrimp, crabs and bait fish.

This style of fishing is similar to spot and stalk hunting. We are in shallow water, generally 1’ or less, using a push pole to be as quiet as possible. We approach the fish stealthily to giving our client the best shot. At this point we are visually seeing the fish, casting to the fish, and watching that fish eat our lure or fly. This is a game of skill and patience but is HIGHLY rewarding when accomplished.

Bay Boat Trips

Target redfish, black drum, flounder, snook and tarpon in the comfort of our bay boats. With a larger vessel, we gain comfort and speed, but lose some draft. Perfect for shorter trips with more than 2 anglers.
